"Find The Path, Take The Path"

This image was made with an 8x10 view camera with a vintage pictorialist lens on the campus of the Episcopal School in Alexandria, Virginia while I was visiting artist and guest lecturer.

This part of the school was the location of a civil war battleground. Even though it was over grown with trees, I could still see the embankments where defensive trenches were dug. I'm reminded that we are always occupying space with history.

This landscape was made on the cross country trail at the Episcopal School. Part of the school campus includes a civil war battleground, which has been reclaimed by the forest. Made with my Deardorff 8x10 view camera, I was struck by the abundance of life throughout the frame. That is what my work really is about, the insistence of life and light.
